Central Airlines (ICAO: CEN / IATA: CA / Call-sign: CENTRAL) was a virtual commercial airline in Second Life®. Central Airlines served the Second Life® Grid with commuter travel and charter flights between regional and intercontinental airports in the Blake Sea, Nautilus and Satori continents.
History
Central Airlines was founded in January 2010, operating out of the Blake Sea area. In 2012 expanded to their first hub, Miami International Airport (SLMA) as a commercial airline. Central Airlines relocated their headquarters to Second Norway Lufthavn (SLSN) following the former airport's closure on in October 2013. In April 2015 Central Airlines once again relocated their headquarters to Hollywood Airport (SLHA). In May 2015 Central Airlines became a non-commercial airline. In October 2021 Central Airlines closed.
Overview
Central Airlines offered free scheduled flights via the Passengers of SL group and was also available for public and private chartered mainland flights. All flights operated on a 'pay what you want' system where although not required, tipping is appreciated. Central Airlines was also a member of the Second Life Airline Alliance (SAA), which promotes co-operation and co-share operations between airlines to improve the airline experiance.
