The Cessna 172 Skyhawk (ICAO: C172 / WAKE: LIGHT) is a four seat, single engine, high wing, fixed-wing aircraft. Created in Second Life by DSA Aeronautics, the aircraft was based on the real-life Cessna 172 Skyhawk, built in the United States of America by the Cessna Aircraft Company.

The real-life Cessna 172 Skyhawk was first flown in 1955 and over the course of its existence more Cessna 172s have been built than any other aircraft. Measured by its longevity and popularity, the Cessna 172 is the most successful aircraft in history. Cessna delivered the first production models in 1956. As of 2012, Cessna, and its partners, had built around 60,000.
