The McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30F also known as the DC-10-30AF (ICAO: DC10 / WAKE: HEAVY) is an all freight version of the DC-10 three-engine wide-body jet airliner. Created in Second Life by Adventure Air, the aircraft was based on the real-life DC-10-30F, manufactured by McDonnell Douglas.
Background
The real-life Douglas DC-10-30AF, or the Douglas DC-10-30F, was the all freight version of the Douglas DC-10-30. The first customer was to be Alitalia in 1979, but they never confirmed their order. As a result, FedEx became the first customer of the Douglas DC-10-30AF by receiving its first aircraft in May 1984. A total of 10 were built.
Its most distinguishing feature is the two turbofan engines mounted on underwing pylons and a third engine at the base of the vertical stabilizer. The DC-10 was a successor to McDonnell Douglas's DC-8 for long-range operations, and competed in the same markets as the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, which has a similar layout to the DC-10.
The Adventure Air DC-10-30F features three pre-loaded liveries, ground proximity warning system (GPWS), animated doors/surfaces/undercarriage, and realistic lighting (navigation lights, strobes, and beacon). It is sold separately or as part of the DC-10 bundle with Adventure Air's KC-10A Extender.
