The Douglas DC-3 (ICAO: DC3 / WAKE: MEDIUM) is a fixed-wing propeller-driven airliner. Created in Second Life by Tumansky Heavy Industries (THI), the aircraft was based on the real-life Douglas DC-3, manufactured by the Douglas Aircraft Company.

The real-life Douglas DC-3's speed and range revolutionized air transport in the 1930s and 1940s. Its lasting impact on the airline industry and World War II makes it one of the most significant transport aircraft ever made. The major military version of which more than 10,000 were produced was designated the C-47 Skytrain in the USA and the Dakota in the UK. Many DC-3s and converted C-47s are still used in all parts of the world.[1]
