The Eurocopter AS-565 (ICAO: AS65 / WAKE: LIGHT) is a medium-weight multi-purpose twin-engine military helicopter. Created in Second Life by Spijkers & Wingtips, the aircraft was based on the real-life Eurocopter AS-565 Panther currently manufactured by Airbus Helicopters (formerly Eurocopter Group).
Background
The real-life Eurocopter AS-565 Panther is the military version of the Eurocopter AS-365 Dauphin medium-weight multi-purpose twin-engine helicopter. The Panther is used for a wide range of military roles, including combat assault, fire support, anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, search and rescue, and medical evacuation (MEDEVAC).
Spijkers & Wingtips's Eurocopter AS-565 comes equipped with a heads-up display (HUD), cargo hook/rescue winch system, retractable landing gear, search-light, and functioning doors/navigation lights. Like all S&W helicopters, the aircraft uses an incremental collective/cyclic flight system and is fully modifiable.
