Gateway Interior

The runway-level interior of the Gateway International terminal.

Gateway International (SLGI) is a full-service international executive airport on the southern coast of Sansara in the Meighen and Axel regions (the former site of Wolf Spirit International), with a small parcel in Black connecting it to the nearby Linden road. Traffic entering Sansara from Jeogeot or Bellisseria must overfly Gateway or pass close by, making it a convenient stop for long-haul or multi-leg flights between Sansara/Heterocera and the rest of the mainland (hence the name "Gateway") . The airport elevation is 144m, sitting on a terrain elevation of 110m-120m. Its primary landing runway is 36, located near the western edge of Meighen, with four fully-protected regions on its approach path. The approach path to Runway 18 does include unprotected land, but as of the date of this article, orb and ban line-free landing is possible without major difficulty. The runway is paved and 32m wide. Both ends have precision approach lighting, a VASI, and an available landing distance of approximately 220m. Gateway also hosts a seaplane dock at Axel Harbor (in Axel), connected to the main terminal by road and monorail. Three helipads sit above the GTFO hub in the northeast corner of Meighen, two of which are public, one of which includes a cargo elevator for transferring freight between helicopters and fixed wing aircraft or ground vehicles. Fuel is available for Dani, DSA, and Shergood aircraft. GFS fuel is also available at the GTFO hub on the runway and ground levels.

Opened in 2022, Gateway is designed as a large, modern commercial airport, featuring twelve gates, four of which are public. Three gates, including one of the public gates (Gate 12), can accommodate jets as large as the MA-757. Gate 12 also serves as the parking spot for the GTFO! hub in the northeast corner of Meighen. The other 9 gates fit aircraft of sizes up to and including the D-300/D-120/ZSK Falcon 7x. Its terminal is designed to allow as much natural light as possible on the runway level, with high, glass-paneled ceilings. Below the runway is a baggage claim, a large Customs and international arrivals hall, an art gallery, and a monorail connection to Axel Harbor via the neighboring town of West Altonville. Glass walls allow for a view of the approach path to Runway 36, even from below runway level. The terminal is configured to require passengers entering the terminal to pass through a security checkpoint to reach the gates (absent teleporting, of course). With reasonable advance notice, management can lock the automatic doors to require passengers arriving through the international gates (5-9) to pass through Customs before leaving the airport.

Gateway Train Station

The monorail station at Gateway Int'l. Trains run every 5-6 minutes between Gateway and Axel Harbor, with stops at West Altonville and the long-term parking lot. The station has real-time train status signs, and the stations and monorails are equipped with voice and text announcements.

Airlines serving Gateway include Starlight, Quimby, Sea Dragon, Vulture, AvinAir, and Maurice Messmer Airlines. Kuosara Charters has an office and SLCS Airlines has a check-in counter as well.

Pilots flying to Gateway for the first time, and/or on a slower computer or internet connection, are advised to visit Gateway first, overfly the field slowly and at low altitude before they land, to cache objects and reduce lag on landing.

Gateway Starlight Hangar

One of 4 private-rented hangars at Gateway International. Each was specially designed to fit aircraft of any size up to and including a D-737, and each has two helipads on its roof, one of which can fit a Shergood S64 Aircrane.

Beautiful West Altonville
