Honah Lee Faroe Airfield (ICAO: SLAG) was a short-runway airfield (or STOLport) constructed on a small rocky island in the 'Honah Lee Faroe' (renamed 'Honah Lee Shoal' following airfield closure) region of the Honah Lee Estate - a group of sims to the south of the Blake Sea operated by Hollywood Real Estates.

Landing Advisories

  • Short runway (108 meters in total).
  • Large wingspan advisories (max. 30 meters).

Background

Created in August 2014 by aviation enthusiast Bearen, Honah Lee Faroe was designed to capture the feel of a derelict airfield with the appearance of age and abandonment. With tall surrounding cliff-walls, the airfield was primarily geared towards light aircraft and bush pilots - aiming to make a challenge out of landing and taking off in a confined space. Airfield management originally planned to create an even smaller, hidden airstrip on the south-side of the simulator, however the final design settled on a single prominent landing surface, facing north-south. A few months into its operation the airfield underwent a major re-design in late 2014, adding a new helipad, bar/lounge facilities, a simple ATC watchtower, a wooden dock for mooring boats and seaplanes, and created additional turning space for manoeuvring aircraft and transient parking.

On the 5th March 2015, airport management announced further redesigns which involved major changes to the island's western perimeter; with fewer cliffs, new expanded seaplane/boat docks, and a reconfigured bar area. After almost a year of operation, the facility was dismantled in August 2015 and the region became 'Honah Lee Shoal'.
