Changes: Juneau Regional Airport

Juneau Regional Airport (ICAO: SLJA) is a public airport in the 'Juneau South' region of the Blake Passage - a group of sims which provide a link between the Blake Sea and Nautilus.

Background

As the Blake Sea expanded in mid-2014 with the creation of over twenty new regions to the north, construction began on a new airport facility to serve them. Built during September 2014, Juneau Regional Airport was officially opened at the beginning of October.

Sister airport to Hollywood Airport, Juneau Airport is a single-runway (166m x 13m) regional airport servicing propeller-based aircraft, seaplanes and small corporate jets. The facility is equipped with a mid-sized terminal building with airline check-in desks, and offers rental tie-down spaces and seaplane docking facilities. By the end of 2014 the airport added three new hangar buildings complete with office space and helipads.

In early March 2015, Juneau Regional underwent minor construction work to improve the operational efficiency of the facility. Runway 14/32 was lengthened and widened (from 120m x 7m to 166m x 13m) to accept larger aircraft and parking was extended to accommodate more traffic and larger wing profiles. In addition, Juneau expanded into the residential market by replacing several seaplane docks with four log-cabin house-boats.
