Mount Mordor Airstrip (ICAO: SLMD) is a single-runway public airstrip in the 'Motocyclone' region of north central Corsica.

Landing Advisories

  • Large aircraft advisory: runway 32 x 12m, suitable for small aircraft only.
  • Runway located within a cave, attention to vertical and horizontal clearance required.


Created circa October 2015, Mount Mordor Airstrip is located atop one of northern Corsica's mountains and is inspired by the eponymous volcano from J.R.R Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Built into the mountain, the lava-surrounded runway is an 32m x 12m unmarked rocky surface. Public rez provided with 30 minute auto-return.
