Passengers of SL is a Second Life group created as a platform for helping passengers, airlines and pilots to communicate with each other. The group was established by Laben Core on 9th December 2013 and has gradually expanded to accommodate other forms of public transportation such as trains, taxis, and passenger ferries.
Background
The basic aim of the Passengers of SL group is to help connect pilots with passengers. Pilots can announce departure times and destinations in group chat. Notices that provide information about the pilot’s airline and rates, if any, can also be sent. Likewise, passengers can state their intentions to charter a flight. The group is open enrolment with three main generic roles: passenger, freelance pilot and airline pilot. The default is set to passenger, however, pilots may notify group admins to be reclassified as either of the two other roles. General chat about flight conditions, passenger aircraft and airport status is also welcome.
To join the SL Passengers' group, users are encouraged to use their viewer's search function to find and join the "Passengers of SL" group, or alternatively paste the following url in local chat and click the resulting link:

Announcement formats
Due to prior misuse of the Passengers of SL group, Laben Core outlined two acceptable formats for announcing flights in October 2014. Both formats were designed with the intention of avoiding older announcements becoming obscured by numerous, single posts. Group management notes that neither format is 'written in stone' - the wording can be changed, but it is the format itself which cannot. Airlines and charter pilots are urged to keep announcements short and concise for the benefit of prospective passengers.
