The Rockwell Commander 112 (ICAO: AC11 / WAKE: LIGHT) is a four-seat single-engined monoplane. Created in Second Life by Dani Aircraft, the aircraft was based on the real-life Commander 112, designed and built by North American Rockwell (later Rockwell International) in the 1970s.
Background
The real-life Rockwell Commander 112 is a high performance, retractable undercarriage light aircraft. Rockwell began development of the aircraft during the late 1960s, and announced its new range in late 1970. Featuring a conventional construction and a low wing configuration, the prototype 112 first flew on December 4 1970, and was powered by a 135kW (180hp) Lycoming O360. The loss of the 112 prototype during flight testing due to the structural failure of the tail unit delayed certification and production until a fix was found. Deliveries of production aircraft took place from late 1972.[1]
