Surtsey Airport, formerly Surtsey Airfield, (ICAO: SL--) was a dual-runway public airport free-floating above the 'Surtsey' region of western Corsica.

Background
Having created his first airfield - Devyn’s Field - in April 2008, it became apparent to owner Devyn Smythe, that a larger runway and harbour area was required. Consequently, in July 2008, Smythe and Deirdre Faulds purchased a larger Corsican parcel three sims north-east in the 'Surtsey' region and built a new airfield there. Originally a single-runway airstrip elevated 41-52m above sea-level, the airport was raised to 801m in December 2008; becoming a fully-fledged skyport. From August 2009, Surtsey developed many features which would be carried over to its successor (Baitoushan Intercontinental Airport) including its dual runways and iconic air traffic control tower, based on a structure from the real-life Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
The airfield's main asset was its ocean-front location and access to a large group of protected ocean sims. At the time of its construction, there were only two large areas of protected ocean sims in which to boat or fly, and both of them were located in the Corisican continent. Operating from July 2008 until March 2010, Surtsey Airport was eventually closed by its owners in favour of a new location four regions south-west of 'Surtsey'. The new airport would become Baitoushan Intercontinental Airport.
